A Good Time Guide Presentation: The Plough at Cobham

As if you didn't know, the weekend is nearly upon us! Itself something of a mini-Christmas, there's always that tangible feeling of disappointment on a Sunday evening if we feel like we haven't used our precious free time wisely. Well, that's exactly what The Good Time Guide are here for, and we can highly recommend one place for you to spend a lazy afternoon; The Plough at Cobham. But before we wax lyrical about this lovely country pub/restaurant, let us point out our illustrious website. There's plenty of places in your area to spend your free time, so don't be afraid to mix it up and see what Surrey and North Hampshire have to offer!

The Plough at Cobham
Set in the heart of the beautiful Surrey countryside, The Plough at Cobham is a truly wonderful country pub. On offer are all the elements you would want from such an establishment, a cosy inviting atmosphere, friendly staff, a large and well stocked bar and some of the most amazing food the area has to offer.

Run by Rueben Waller this pub now has a new direction and passion plus an emphasis on providing an exciting menu thanks to the appointment of Stuart Patterson the head chef. With 10 years experience working in London for the likes of Marco Pierre White his wealth of experience has resulted in a very exciting menu at the Plough.

The menu features a mix of old favourites, tastes from different cuisines around the world, plus some dishes that would be at home on any top London restaurant’s menu. There is also a great lunch time deal on offer that means you can have two courses for £10.50 from Monday to Thursday so weather it’s a nice relaxing lunch or a night out for dinner with friends there is something on offer for all occasions.

Food Review
The Good Time Guide team visited The Plough on a week day evening and the experience was everything that we had been promised. The pub was busy but not crowded, log fires were ablaze and the staff were relaxed and friendly. We enter through the main bar which is large and comfortable, and were seated in the dining room at the rear of the pub which also had its own fire making us feel very much at home. The service from the start was attentive but not intrusive and the menu was comprehensive but not overwhelming.

To start we chose a sharing platter which consisted of lots of little dishes, including prawns in coriander and chilli, cumin roast aubergine, olives, houmous and pitta bread and the most divine mini English sausages. Needless to say there was nothing left on the platter. For our main courses we asked for advice and settled on roast chicken with a barbeque glaze, aioli dip and chunky hand cut chips, and suckling pig with mash and apple and vanilla puree. Both meals were exceptional in taste, presentation and portion size. We could have stopped at this point but the temptation of a warm chocolate fondant and a vanilla crème brulee was simply too tempting. We washed all of this down with a very nice pinot grigio and finished everything off with coffees.

The whole of our evening was truly excellent and frankly not what you would expect from a local pub. We both felt that we could have been easily sitting in any top London restaurant which is testament to how good the new team at The Plough at Cobham are.
