You Know the Line-Up, So Here are Some Other Guilfest Ideas...

It's so nearly time! But TGTG is pretty sure you know all about the line-up by now, so let us (The Good Time) guide you through what else is in Stoke Park next weekend - there's loads more than just music...

NB: The pictures aren't really related to the entries - they're just some of the acts performing. Looks cool though...

The Man in the Moon Theatre Tent - A Little Cross-Section of the Arts...
A fantastic alternative if there simply isn't anything on the stages you don't fancy seeing (though why you're not cruising around The Good Time Guide Stage we'll never know!), we highly recommend you take yourself off to The Man in the Moon Theatre Tent. Why, you cry (or maybe slur after a few too many GuilFest ciders)? Because, my boozy chum, this is a tent that has an Edinburgh Festival-esque feel of versatility and uniquness, featuring cabaret, dance and theatre.

The Man in the Moon Theatre tent is a brilliant alternative to the music stages, and frankly there's too much going on to list it all in this wee orange box - so you may as well click here to get a real idea of what this 'ere marquee holds. The Theatre runs from Midday to 1am on Friday and Saturday and 12am on Sunday; the tent features special late night performances from 11pm (10pm on Sunday). We say be sure to sample some of the wondiferous stuff on there!

UNISONZone - A Chance to Debate, Discuss, and Jam...
First up, let GuilFest explain what UNISON do: "UNISON is Britain's largest public services trade union with more than 1.35 million members – in turn who provide an essential service to the public through local authorities, the NHS, police service, schools, colleges, higher education, private contractors providing public services and in the essential utilities, transport and the voluntary sector."

So what have these guys got to do with our (not-so) little festival? Well, the UNISONZone provides you band members a chance to perform with relatively little notice - just be keen, early (spaces are limited), and with intstruments. But what makes this zone really special is the hugely diverse array of intellectuals, discussion sessions, political thinkers, poets and great musical talent - all engaging in debate, a la the legendary Leftfield area of Glastonbury.

More info on the fantastic UNISONZone lies here.

KidZone - Ahem, A Zone for Kids...
As you may be aware, GuilFest is an event for all ages - I mean, N-Dubz and Status Quo on the same bill is proof enough - but you really don't need to worry even if you're kids are pre-schoolers, for KidZone is to the rescue! Peppa Pig and Barney the Dinosaur will be there, in all their so-annoying-if-you're-over-8 glory, and that's just the headline acts; those two alone will ensure they'll actually want to be left there!

KidZone runs daily until 8pm, so just make sure you keep that time emblazoned in your brain, for leaving a child at an activity tent beyond closing is almost certainly a criminal offence. More info? Hover that cursor over here.

Plantation Zone - Teenage Hangout...
Now, if you have older kids (or indeed, are yourself), you may find yourself a bit stuck - we all remember that time of our lives when you're too old for cartoons and jelly but too young to drink. Enter those kind folks at Plantation Cafe, who have found a solution for all the teenage folk at GuilFest who may want to hang out with people of their ilk.

So the under 18s can hang out, watch bands together, play pool, play computer games and even have a go at some open mic stuff. Who says the youth of today haven't got enough to do? Click here to find out more about Plantation Zone.

70's Disco - Get Yourself Some Night Fever...
For all you retro-heads, why not get g-g-g-g-get down at the brilliant GuilFest 70's discotheque? Soul, ska, funk, disco - heck, you'll know from just the title if you want to attend or not!

The 70's Disco will be on each night til 1am (midnight on Sunday) - if it's information you seek, click here - DANCE! BOOGIE WON-DER-LA-AAND!

N.B. For the title of this entry: Don't sue. We don't actually want you to get ill.

The Ceroc Dance Tent - Add a Bit of Flair to Your Dance Moves...
Surrey Ceroc is a completely stress-free partner dance company that has introduce many new faces to the world of dance for almost three decades, so you're in safe hands to try something new.

The style is a fusion of modern jive and salsa, and there won't be dance fascists yelling at you here; it's fun, relaxing and a great chance to do some exercise and meet a few new faces.

Eden Peoples' GuilFest Gallery - Express Yourself...
Another place that falls squarely into the 'fantastic idea' category, The Eden Peoples' GuilFest Gallery is the perfect place for you creative types to indulge in your passion, be it drawing, sculpting or writing poetry - and it'll be hung up for all your loved ones to admire (if you're good), or laugh at (if they're mean, or you're rubbish). As well as all this, you can get a free hand and/or foot service, get yourself a treat at the Juicey Bar – with fruit and cold drinks for visitors.

So, who are Eden People? A left-field collection of artists, poets and healers, of course - see that handy link above. So if chilling out and getting in touch with your tranquil side, click here to find out how to do just that. Man.

The Carnivalanza Salon - The Finishing Touches to Your Costume...
Costume hire facilities on site? Is there any stone GuilFest have left unturned? Carnivalanza (winner of the greatest name of anything 2010) will see you done over by a collection of professionals to look as brilliant and silly as possible.

You've got to look foolish at a festival at some point; it's a GuilFest by-law (note: it's not a GuilFest by-law, just fun).

Want to know more? Perhaps about taking part in their gloriously silly hat making classes? It's here!

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage - The Big-Haired Ones Talented Cohorts...
Note: Hugh won't actually be there, but his River Cottage team will, and they'll be serving up a host of culinary delights such as organic bacon sandwiches, smoothies, and spicy mutton burgers - hear the collective rumbling of bellies. All will be cooked on authentic woodefire barbecues as well, so you'll get that true traditional taste. Mmmm.

What's more, those legendary "Three Hungry Boys" from Channel 4 will be hosting some workshops to teach us mere mortals how to do all manner of seemingly impossible cooking-related things. (Yet) Moreover, other members of the River Cottage Team will show you how to get those marrows that you always wanted (note: not a euphamism). Find more here!

CHAOS Afterparty in the Rock Sound Cave - Nod Your Heads...
Roooooooock! A live DJ set taken from the South East's biggest and longest running alternative club night, will chuMp has played alongside some of the biggest names on the alternative scene, including the likes of Zane Lowe, Gallows, Pendulum, Frank Turner, DJ Yoda, Utah Saints, the Libertines and Mary Ann Hobbs - he'll be spinning some of your favourite tunes on Friday and Saturday night!

So if you're into indie, punk, metal, rock, electro, dubstep, d'n'b - anything you can shake your shoulders to - this is the place to visit. By now, you know where to click to find out more, it's all blue and highlighted...
