Week Starting 03 May 2010
It's May! The Silly Season Fast Approaches!
Welcome once again dear subscribers! Are you as excited as we are that it's May already? Where does the time go eh?
Anyway, as usual The Good Time Guide (or TGTG as we like to say it - you can use that too, we're all friends) has some great ideas on how to spend this week - kicking off with no work Monday!
So let's get crackin'!
|
Monday - Bank Holiday BBQ at The Jolly Farmer, Worplesdon |
No work Monday! And we can think of no better place to spend it than the picturesque Jolly Farmer, located just outside of Guildford town. To celebrate bank holiday Monday, those lovely folk down Burdenshott Road are going to do you what will be an undoubtedly one of the finest BBQs you'll sample this year!
"Ah!", we hear you cry, "what if the weather is like it always is on the first Monday of May - namely, wet?". "Pah!" we shall respond patronisingly, before informing you - with raised eyebrows and arm on shoulder - that "this is a 'come-rain-or-shine' BBQ, so fear not!". And, pithy monologue out of the way, you can head on down to The Jolly Farmer and bask in the glorious food and surroundings between 12 & 8pm!

Tuesday - Crazy Heart at Camberley Theatre |
Come and see the film that saw Jeff Bridges win a Best Actor Oscar at Camberley Theatre!
Crazy Heart is the story of Bad Blake, a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who's had way too many marriages. Blake is a chain-smoking, hard drinking, overweight man who seeks refuge in Jean (Maggie Gyllenhaal), a journalist who discovers the real man behind the legend, who's now forced to play at Z-list venues. A beautiful tale for sure!
And, if you missed it first time around, what better place to see it than the theatre? Show times are at 2.30 and 8pm; please note this is a 15 rated film. Tickets are £6.50, or a fiver for friends/film club members. Call 01276 707600 to book!

Wednesday - Cliche Shisha Bar, Guildford - £1 milkshakes!! |
Sure to be one of the coolest new venues in Guildford! New and exciting, Cliche serves up milkshakes, cake, shisha and live sport - with paninis coming soon- now THAT's variety!
Obviously those of you wanting to partake in smoking shisha, the middle eastern flavoured tobacco, must be 18 or over - otherwise, everyone can enjoy their culinary delights! However, with every pipe ordered, you lovely TGTG Offer Card holders can get an awesome milkshake for just £1! So treat yourself - there's not too many of these places about.
Whilst TGTG headquarters would never condone smoking - and we appreciate there are those of you out there who don't enjoy it - we think this a fantastic and unique venue that you should all know about! So non-smokers - we still say head down and appreciate the food and ambience!

Thursday - The Britannia, Guildford - James Deane and his Guitar! |
Ah The Britannia. Not content with supplying you wonderful TGTG Offer Card holders a fantastic food offer, the first Thursday of every month sees the sweet sounds of James Deane, a hugely talented singer songwriter in these parts.
James used to a member of power-pop quartet 'Snug', who were courted by major labels when Mr Deane was a mere 17 years old. At 29, his wonderful melodies and brilliant lyrics point to a far more mature songwriter, and that's exactly why you should check him out! For more info on The Brit, click here!

Tip of The Week
500 MEMBERS BY FRIDAY FOR A CHANCE TO WIN GUILFEST TICKETS...
Remember, IF we can get 500 or more fans on our Facebook Fan Page by FRIDAY 7th MAY, we'll give away a pair of tickets to a random fan on said page!
The Good Time Guide will be holding competitions in the very near future, but this will be by far the best chance you'll have to win them; assuming we get the minimum 500 fans required, you'll still have a far, FAR better chance of winning than pretty much any other competition out there!
So get out, spread the word, and let's hit 500 fans; send this email to a friend using that handy link below, email, call, text, yell from rooftops, use smoke signals... whatever it takes! Remember, we MUST have 500 fans in total by Friday May 7th!!
