Week Starting 22 March 2010

Spring, Sun, and a Great Time to Live in Surrey!

At the time of going of press, it's a glorious sunny day, so let's take that air of positivity into the week ahead! This week, we have pub and restaurant suggestions coupled with comedy, music and even some agricultural retail threapy. There will also be, of course, a couple of suggestions of how to use your Good Time Guide Offer Card, a candidate for best local thing ever in our eyes (though we may be biased).

So read on and see if anything in the list below inspires you to visit somewhere a little different. That's what The Good Time Guide is for! Finally, if you love our services and have a Facebook account, click here and sign in!

An entire week devoted to all the fantastic music this fair town has to offer! Situated in the beautfiul surroundings of the Cobham countryside is The Plough at Cobham, one of the finest gastro-pubs imaginable. Just click here to see our recent review; we don't do these for just anyone, and the report was positively glowing!

With a head chef who's worked for a decade with Marco Pierre White, and 2 for 1 on main courses with your Good Time Guide Offer Card, we say make this Tuesday special! You'll never get food this good for such little money again!

Wednesday - Open Mic Night at The Star Inn, Woking
Stylish and modern with a hint of the traditional, The Star Inn in Woking boasts a great array of food, drink and you even get free wi-fi! Wednesday evening is a great evening to go, however, as you can experience their open mic nights; so you can bring your instrument and have an impromtu performance or have a relaxing drink and observe the musical talent on show! Expect the music to begin at 8.30pm.

Friday - Dave Gorman at Dorking Halls
One of the finest stand-ups in the UK today, Dave Gorman doesn't do things tradtionally. In 2009, he set off on a unique national tour. The intention: to cycle over 1500 miles across Britain in 33 days with a gig each night. And you know what? For all his fame, talent and beard, he will end up at the always-got-a-great-gig-on Dorking Halls this Friday 26th March from 8pm!

Circa 100 words of info on the man and the event won't do it justice, so click the relevant hyperlinks to find out more! Oh, and this one to book! And, should you really have the Friday feeling, here as well to find out what else the wonderful Dorking Halls has to offer!

Saturday - Shardana, Guildford
Right in the centre of town yet hidden from plain view, Guildford's Shardana is a restaurant well worthy of your affection. Food with a Sardinian flavour should get your tastebuds working overtime, and the menu certainly has plenty to offer!

What's more, this being an Italian Restaurant, there are a fantastic range of wines, spirits and beers for you to sample... It may be worth taking a cab home! Come for lunch or dinner and you won't be disappointed!

Sunday - Farnham Farmers Market
Top off your week sampling the amazing local produce on offer; fresh, well-priced, and you know there will be several types of veg that you'll be ungraciously squeezing to find out how ripe it is. There really is a great array too; as well as the afformentioned vegetables and fruit there'll be potatoes, honey, poultry, beef, fish and fresh flowers, and all are likely to be tempting you this Sunday 28th.

Running between 10am to 1.30pm in Central Car Park, Off Victoria Road, Farnham, these markets set up shop on the forth Sunday of every month. Click here to find out more about Farnham Farmers Markets.
