Overview
The Squirrel, located in the heart of Hurtmore, right on the A3, is the latest addition to a group of pubs synonymous with fresh food, fine wine and real ales. Just a short drive from Guildford and Godalming, The Squirrel has recently been refurbished and been given a new lease of life. With food sourced as locally as possible and a menu composed of some really quite delectable dishes (see the menu for the incredible Squirrel Picnic Basket, which includes such delights as potted Devonshire crab, pork & chicken liver pate and hand-carved Tamworth ham), it is quite possible that this venue has just reached the top of your agenda of 'where to try next?'
The Squirrel also has a large garden, perfect for whiling away the summer evenings, watching the odd hot air – balloon take off or even for holding a wedding reception. In addition to the traditional expectations that this establishment offers, The Squirrel also boasts eight en-suite bedrooms (£50 - £75), housed in cottages dating back to the 16th Century, within the grounds and of course accompanied by breakfast.
Scenic surroundings, real ales, fine wines, hearty food. Right then, I'll see you there!
