Images of Surrey: Watercolours by John and Edward Hassell at The Lightbox

The Lightbox, for those of you who don't know, is a gallery and museum boasting some rather fantastic exhibitions, workshops and other such cultural ways of bettering oneself.

Let's focus on the former - specifically an exhibition featuring the works of John and Edward Hassell, father and son artists who between 1820 to 1833 produced more than 2,000 watercolours of Surrey. Our pre-industrialised county was a beautiful place people - click here to see what we mean.

'Images of Surrey' runs until Sunday 19th February at The Lightbox.

Butterflies in the Glasshouse at RHS Wisley

Returning once more to RHS Wisley, this is a wonderfully serene experience for the nature-lovers out there. For the more cynical and shallow of you, the glasshouses are great places to keep warm...

We jest, of course. Bring your camera for some wonderfully exotic species (see how many you can spot), and some specially grown flowers for the pretty little blighters.

Butterflies will be residing in the glasshouse until the end of February - click here for all the info.
